The mission of the Franklin Park Mile is to foster community cohesion through physical activity. This ONE MILE race is free for youth 17 and under and aims to bring diverse communities of Boston together by celebrating running in our beloved Franklin Park. All profits of the race benefit the Franklin Park Coalition - whose mission it is to engage park users and community members through advocacy programs and restoration projects.
The Franklin Park Mile is organized by volunteers of the community running organization, Forest Hills Runners, a free running club based in Jamaica Plain. The 1st Annual Franklin Park Mile, held on October 20, 2013, boasted close to 200 participants!
