Winter Warrior 2014!
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A WARRIOR? We are excited to announce the 3rd Edition of the Bayside Runner Winter Warrior Challenge. For Winter Warrior, we challenge you to run/walk OUTSIDE every day for 31 days in January. Over the past two years we have had hundreds of walkers and runners take on the Winter Warrior Challenge and this year we're upping the ante! REGISTER
More Levels to Challenge Yourself! You can attempt any level. Challenge yourself! If you start on a higher level, you can always drop down to a lower level. But, if you miss a day, you’re out!
- Squires = Run/Walk 1mile/day
- Commanders = Run/Walk 3miles/day.
- Masters = Run/Walk 5miles/day!
Easy Registration! . In the past registration has been free, this year we have a sweet new daily run tracking app (see below) and an online tracking tool, and it’s just $6.25/person for the whole 31 days of tracking! You can choose to use the app or the online tool or both.
Log Your Daily Runs! This year we’ve partnered with RaceMenu to create a customized section of their RaceDay app for your smart phone – iPhone and Android alike! The app will be released a couple days prior to the January 1. In this app you will be able to log your runs, check leaderboards and see who is still “IN”. If you do not have a smartphone, there will be an online tool to log your daily runs from your PC or MAC. INSTRUCTIONS ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE!
Group Runs! We will have 4 weekly opportunities, 2 in Plymouth and 2 on the Cape, to gather with other Warriors for your Warrior Training Runs. Gathering with other Warriors is optional. Feel free to toil alone, but wouldn't it be better to run with the support of others? Below are some optional gatherings:

Plymouth
- Saturday: Live, Life, Believe Fitness Center in Plymouth will host weekly Saturday 9am run out of Cordage Park in North Plymouth.
- Wednesday: Bayside Runner Plymouth will host a Wednesday night group run at 6:15pm

Cape Cod/Yarmouth
- Saturday: Personalized Fitness Solutions in Harwich will host Cape Cod Saturday Morning Group Runs.
- Thursday: Bayside Runner Yarmouth will host a Thursday night group run at 6:15pm
Team Challenge! New this year! We are encouraging you to get your friends involved. We will be giving prizes to:
- The largest team to complete the contest
- The team with the most miles at the end of the contest.
Prizes will include givaways from Brooks, a raffle for a FREE pair of shoes for one team member of the winning team, special props and recognition at the final party!
More Prizes! Brooks Running will again be sponsoring and we'll have weekly prize drawings and other giveaways.
Kick it Off! We have two optional kick-off runs to get the challenge going:
- Live, Life, Believe Fitness Center in Plymouth is hosting a kick off run January 1 at 9am.
- Personalized Fitness Solutions in Harwich is hosting a kick off run January 1 at 11am.
Final Day Pub Run! The Final Pub Run on January 31 at TBD locations. We’ll have one gathering on the Cape and one in Plymouth.
T-Shirts! We will once again have commemorative long sleeve tech running shirts with the name of each person who completes the challenge on the back. You can pre-order your t-shirt at registration for $10 or purchase at the end for $15.
Tracking Instructions: You have two ways to track your runs, either via a mobile app or a mobile website that can also be accessed from a desktop computer:
AT THIS TIME YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE APPS OR VIEW THE WEB BROWSER AND MOBILE WEB BROWSER PAGE, BUT PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LOG IN ANY RUNS UNTIL AFTER MIDNIGHT ON JANUARY 1 (WHICH OF COURSE IS THE POINT), AS THE FULL FUNCTIONALITY KICKS IN AT MIDNIGHT.
- Desktop or smartphone: You can use the mobile web version from either your smart phone or laptop. You access it here: http://m.racemenu.com
- IPhone: You can down load the RaceMenu Race Day app from the iTunes app store for your iPhone
- Andriod: Android users should start with the mobile browser: http://m.racemenu.com until a few kinks have been worked out of the Android app.
Either way you must use the same RaceMenu login/password or Facebook account that you used to sign up on RaceMenu for Winter Warrior.
Once you login successfully:
- Click "Run Log" at the bottom of the page
- Click "Log a Run" in the middle of the next page
You have until 10AM the following day to log a run. For example, for your January 1 run, you have until 10AM on January 2 to log a run for credit. When you log a run, you can enter the time. There are 3 drop-down menus for the time they are Hours, Minutes and Seconds.
