Why: The Pink Elephant Movement is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was created to assist children and families whose lives have been affected and altered because of a love one’s addiction. There are countless number of grandparents, aunts, uncles and other family members who are raising children who aren’t theirs because their loved one has either passed away because of addiction or is in active addiction and unable to care for their children. Our goal is to help these families both spiritually and financially to uplift them in their time of need through community events and individual giving programs.
How We Got Started: A couple of us have come together to try to create change - to light up the darkness. We figured we would start in our own community with a 5K in the streets of our own neighborhood, the place we grew up in. Our hope is that those families that are suffering could feel all of the love and support that we have to share, so that those same families could feel a little hope; so the kids that are growing up powerless over their situation can be encouraged to take a different path, one that is less destructive.
We also wanted to create a space where families could come together and proudly honor the memory of their loved ones who lost their life to drug addiction or alcoholism, to heal, to feel comforted and to feel loved and supported. We hope you will join us for a day of spreading joy, hope, love and healing.
God Bless,
The Pink Elephant Movement
