DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A WARRIOR?

 

We are excited to announce the 5th edition of the Winter Warrior Challenge.  For Winter Warrior, we challenge you to run/walk OUTSIDE every day for 31 days in January. 

 

Over the past four years we have had thousands of walkers and runners take on the Winter Warrior Challenge and this year we're upping the ante!

 

Different Levels to Challenge Yourself!

 

You can attempt any level.  Challenge yourself! If you start on a higher level, you can always drop down to a lower level.  But, if you miss a day, you’re out!

 

  • Bronze = Run/Walk 1mile/day
  • Silver = Run/Walk 3miles/day.
  • Gold = Run/Walk 5miles/day!

 

For each of these levels, you must run the designated mileage EVERY DAY, not just averaging that mileage. This means that if you run 5 or more miles for 30 days in January, and 1 mile for 1 day in January, you will end up hitting the Bronze Level due to that 1 day of lower mileage. This means no saying "I'll make it up another day" when we get our annual January Blizzard ::knock on wood::

Each of these levels is determined by what you actually ran. No matter which level you signed up for, or if you didn't sign up for a level, the level you achieve is based on your results. If you signed up for Silver, and end up running at least 5 miles per day, you'll achieve Gold Level Status. If you drop down from Silver and end up running at least 1 mile per day, you'll still achieve Bronze Level Status. Remember - You need to run this mileage EVERY SINGLE DAY. This is not an average over the month.

 

Easy Registration!

 

Just create an account at racemenu.com, sign up for the Winter Warrior Challenge and log your runs through the RaceMenu Winter Warrior mobile website. It's just $7/person for the whole 31 days of tracking! 

 

Log Your Daily Runs! 

 

You will have two ways to log your runs, either via a mobile website (Raceday web version) which can be accessed from any web browser, or via RaceMenu's Raceday iOS mobile app.


Starting January 1st, 2016 you may follow the below steps on either your smartphone or desktop browser to log your miles. Please note that prior to January 1st, you will not have the ability to log runs and will not see the "Run Log" button referenced below:

 

  1. Visit the web version of Raceday at racemenu.com/raceday using any web browser.
  2. Raceday is designed for viewing on a mobile device - tall and narrow. If accessing from a laptop, try reducing the size of your browser window to the dimensions of a mobile device - it looks better.
  3. Log into Raceday using the same RaceMenu login/password or Facebook account that you used when registering for the Winter Warrior Challenge.

 

Once logged into Raceday:

 

  1. Click "Run Log" at the bottom of the page.
  2. Click "Log a Run" in the middle of the next page.
  3. Enter date, distance, duration, smiley and notes.

From the "Run Log" page, you'll also be able to check the leader boards for individual standings, team standings and see which store is logging the most miles. Who doesn't like a little friendly competition?
 

VERY IMPORTANT
 

You can log a run for 34 hours following the end of the day. For example, you have until 10AM on January 3rd to log your January 1st run or until 10AM January 20th to log your January 18th run. If you miss the 10AM deadline, you're out of the challenge!  

 

Once that 10AM deadline hits, if you don't have a run logged, you're out. Please pay very close attention to this as we will be making NO exceptions to get people back in to the competition.

Don't toil alone - we've got a great schedule of events throughout the month to keep our Warriors going.

 

Group Runs! We will have weekly opportunities all over the place to gather with other Warriors for your Warrior Training Runs.  Gathering with other Warriors is optional.  Feel free to toil alone, but wouldn't it be better to run with the support of others? 
 
Pub Runs! If you're going to get out there, why not join some other warriors for a pint or two after you put the work in?

Team Challenge! 

 

We are encouraging you to get your friends involved. Compete with other teams to be the Rulers of the Winter Warrior Challenge.

 

Store Challenge! 

 

Mention which store is YOUR Marathon Sports store in the registration process, and compete against all 11 Marathon Sports stores. The store that ends up with the most miles at the end of the month will be crowned the victor! All runners on the team will be invited to an end of month party in their store with drinks, food and good fun.

 

More Prizes!

 

Brooks Running will again be sponsoring and we'll have prize drawings and other giveaways.

T-Shirts!

 

We will once again have commemorative long sleeve tech running shirts with the name of each person who completes the challenge on the back.  You can pre-order your t-shirt at registration for $15. Make sure to preorder your shirt if you want one because they will not be available at the end for purchase. 

 

PLEASE NOTE IF YOU ARE ORDERING A SHIRT

 

Shirts will NOT be shipped out and must be picked up within two weeks of receiving notification of arrival via email. Shirts can be expected to arrive in stores in roughly mid February. If you order one, you will be notified via the email you signed up with. Your shirt will be sent to the Store you associated yourself with at the beginning of the registration process. 

 

If you cannot pick up your shirt after the completion of the event, please do not purchase one as refunds will not be given.
